What is the Wasson Difference?
One question business-owners get asked a lot is, "What differentiates your business?" In other words, what sets you apart? What makes you different? What makes you special?
For Wasson Watch Co. there are two things that differentiate us the most: Values and Customer Service.
That's not to say that these are the only differentiators, qualities, or competencies of our business. But, these are the two things that make us exceedingly unique within the industry. Allow me to expound.
Values
At our core, Wasson Watch Co. is Christian, Conservative, American, and Patriotic. We wear these identities on our sleeve (ok, our wrist). Most companies either try to sanitize their image so that they appear neutral on questions about God, religion, morality, and politics, or worse, they actually embrace and espouse evil, subversive positions in all of these areas. You've seen it. How many companies out there, especially the big ones, embrace pride month? How many of them squawk on endlessly about sustainability, global warming, and the environment? Which ones make you use a paper straw? Which ones are on the forefront of DEI? It's a lot of them.
Are those the companies you really want to to support? Are those the values you want your hard-earned money to help spread?
Thankfully, the Bible doesn't forbid us from doing business with sinners, apostates, or evildoers. We would all starve to death. The truth is, you can buy from whoever you want, and you don't need to feel guilty about it (making you feel guilty is not our goal here), but that doesn't mean that you can't seek opportunities to do business with those who share the same values and beliefs as you. It's not just satisfying. It makes business sense. The best way to predict what someone is likely to do, is to know what they believe to be true at the most fundamental level - and not just whether they believe it, but do they live it?
These are the beliefs and values that we hold most dear at Wasson Watch Company:
- The Christian God of the Bible is real, good, and all powerful
- Salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Jesus Christ (the Son of God) alone, according to Scripture alone, for the Glory of God alone
- God's Word, the Bible, is absolutely true, and useful for all people
- All human beings are made in the Image of God, and therefore hold infinite value
- Abortion is murder, and must be abolished
- There are only two sexes: Male and Female, and you don't get to change
- Marriage and the family are established by God, and are good
- Truth is objective
- Life and Liberty are worth protecting
- Free Market Economics and Private Property rights are good, while Marxism, Communism, and Collectivism are evil
- The Right to Keep and Bear Arms must not be infringed
- Treat others the way you wish to be treated
- The United States of America is the greatest country in the world
- God bless our troops
- Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with your God
- Take Dominion
While there are many other good, important values and beliefs we could have listed here, hopefully you get the picture. We boldly proclaim the truth consistently. Whether it's our website, email, or even our social media, we let people know who we are.
If you agree with those ideals, and think they might be worth supporting, then you just might wear a Wasson Watch.
Customer Service
If you're analytical at all, you can usually see how one thing impacts another. Our customer service doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's a reflection of our values and beliefs. Our beliefs about God inform our beliefs about humans, and how they ought to be treated.
Deuteronomy 6:5 commands us to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, and might. In the New Testament, Jesus tells us that this is the greatest commandment. He goes on to say that another is like it, and that is to love our neighbors as ourselves (referencing Leviticus 19:18). This command isn't arbitrary. It's a reflection of the first commandment.
Genesis 1:27 tells us that God made man in his own image. Therefore, it follows that if the greatest commandment is to love God, then the second greatest commandment would be to love that which is made in his own image.
Jesus went on to give us a really practical way to carry out this second greatest commandment when he gave us the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
This is our standard when it comes to customer service.
We've all dealt with companies that care more about money then they do about people. They look at customers and they see dollar signs. And, we get it. The point of a business is to make money. But money is temporary. Every one of us will die, and we can't take it with us. Human beings are eternal. Our deeds, good or bad, are eternal. Whether we make an extra sale today or not will not matter 100 years from now, or at any other point for the rest of eternity. Did we follow God's command to love our neighbors as ourselves? That's what counts.
The result is this. We do our very best to treat our customers with courtesy and respect. We respond quickly. We resolve issues fairly. We complete repairs without nickeling and diming folks. We're transparent. We're honest.
Do we get it right every single time? No. But we do our best, and if we don't get it right, we make it right however we can.
Sometimes companies - even companies with great customer service - don't want to talk about service issues, because they don't want prospective customers imagining that something could ever go wrong with their products, which is understandable. But, honestly, stuff happens. Even companies with prices 10 times greater than Wasson's have service issues, but you may be surprised to hear that they do not have better service than Wasson.
If you want to see for yourself, head over to our home page, scroll down, and read some of our reviews. You'll find our service, including repairs, to be a major factor for many of our customers.
The Wasson Difference Conclusion
As we said earlier, these differentiators are not our only qualities as a business. There are plenty of other things we do well. For starters, take the quality of our watches. Our automatics feature Swiss movements, and all our watches are made with 316L marine-grade stainless steel, sapphire crystal, and have significant water resistance. Our designs and aesthetics are praised consistently. Many of our customers love to talk about how folks will compliment their watch. Our messaging (as a reflection of our values) is unparalleled. No company in the watch industry, and perhaps none in any industry is as bold as Wasson on subjects like God, the Bible, morality, politics, culture, society, and warfare. We're a truly American company with a headquarters in Texas and a Marine Corps veteran founder. All our watches are now assembled in the USA.
In short, there's a lot to love about Wasson, but our values, beliefs, and customer service are on a whole other level. Maybe you would wear a Wasson.
